How to cut down your Reddit usage

Find yourself endless scrolling reddit? Want to quit or cut down on usage? Follow this simple 2 step plan:

Step 1: Have the CEO of the company kill all third-party (read: good) apps.
Step 2: Refuse to download the official app.

On the 1st of the month, Reddit's API changes went into effect, killing basically all third-party apps. I've been using Reddit for more than 10 years, and 95% of that was using Sync, one of the popular third-party apps.

Out of some weird principle, I've refused to download the official app.

It was a little tough at first, muscle memory would cause me to tap on the spot where the app used to be on my phone. I felt like I was missing out on the latest news, the hottest trends.

Now, while still unhappy at this change, I feel maybe it's for the best.

It's been about one month since then, and my usage of reddit has dramatically decreased. I still use the platform sometimes - either on my laptop or the mobile site - for recommendations, reviews, or discussions.

But I no longer scroll reddit mindlessly, and, because of that, thanks /u/spez.
